Khaki Campbell

The Khaki Campbell is a breed of domesticated duck that originated in England and is kept for its high level of egg production. The breed was developed by Mrs. Adah Campbell of Uley.The original Campbell drakes had a dark green head, grey back, pale claret breast, black stern and white ring around the neck Campbell duck comes in two main varieties, Khaki and white.

The Khaki duck has a green bill and dark brown eyes and its legs and feet are brown. The ducks head, upper neck, and lower back are seal-brown and the rest of the plumage is khaki. They came from Indian Runner and Ruel Kagua. Indian runner is a world famous layer duck breed and Ruel Kagua is famous for their meat production. And khaki campbell ducks are the result of this two world famous duck breed. You can start raising khaki campbell ducks commercially, if you have proper facilities for duck farming. They are highly productive, and suitable for commercial production of both meat and eggs. The main advantages of raising khaki campbell ducks is 'their meat and eggs are very tasty. Most Campbells lay their first eggs when 5-7 months old and laying average 250-340 eggs per year, one of the world's most prolific egg laying breed. Khaki Campbells lay white eggs, which weigh about 70 gms each. Duck eggs incubate for 28 days before hatching. They do not require special care or artificial lighting to produce a large number of eggs, which are white and weight about 2.5 ounces. This Ducks are medium-sized domestic ducks that are light brown in color. Males have darker brown heads, necks, backs, and tails. Females are uniformly light brown in color. Both the male and female have brown feet and a greenish-colored bill. They enjoy shoveling but do not require swimming water to stay healthy.


Campbell ducks are small, personable and easy to handle which makes them a perfect asset for a small familys, Ducks are suitable for business purposes, because they lay eggs for 2 to 3 years continuously, while hens lay eggs only for 1.5 year. Female khaki campbell ducks start laying eggs at their age of 17 to 18 weeks. But chickens start laying when they reach about 21 weeks of age. One more advantages is, hens lay eggs all over the day and night but ducks lay eggs only in morning. Usually they lay eggs at morning within 9 am.

  4. Khaki Campbell duck is really awesome. They are excellent layers. Eggs are of good size taste. We are raising Khaki Campbell ducks for many years. Love this breed very much!
